Upcoming works for Fibre Terminations secured on Woodsmith Mine
We have recently secured orders to work in partnership with Eastgate Engineering to complete fibre termination works at Woodsmith Mine, which is being developed by Anglo American.
The Upcoming works include the termination, testing and commissioning of various fibre optical cables throughout the site, including the underground production and service shafts.
Woodsmith Mine is a substantial potash and polyhalite mine located south of Whitby which has been designed to have a minimal surface footprint and blend into the national park landscape. The site will mine the world’s largest known deposit of polyhalite which is a naturally occurring mineral. The polyhalite ore will be transported to Wilton, in Teesside, along an underground 37km long concrete lined tunnel containing a conveyor belt from the Woodsmith Mine for processing and shipping. The mine is expected to have a lifecycle of 100 years and will generate around £100 billion for the UK economy over a period of 50 years.
Paul Warnes, Commercial Director said, “we have worked with Eastgate Engineering for a number of years and are excited to support them on this local project. We have extensive fibre experience and our skilled Engineers have undertaken rigorous induction processes to ensure we comply with all HSEQ requirements of working within a challenging environment.”
