ACEDA provides essential infrastructure as part of the DfE Connect the Classroom Scheme

In May 2022, the Department for Education (DfE) relaunched their £150 million ‘Connect the Classroom’ scheme. The funds were allocated to provide investment into new wireless and LAN infrastructures in schools. The funds will provide eligible schools across England with a reliable and resilient networking solution.
During the pandemic, many schools issued their students with laptops and tablets to enable learning from home. These devices now need to be incorporated into classroom learning which has in turn placed a higher stress on many schools Wi-Fi network infrastructure. The need for a high-speed Wi-Fi network infrastructure within schools is now paramount to ensuring an effective teaching and learning and environment.
As part of the scheme, we are in the process of providing the technology upgrades across 33 schools that fall within the Durham County Council catchment area. Works are well underway, and the completed schools are delighted with their new connectivity capabilities.
Former Education Secretary Nadhim Zahawi said, ‘digital technology, and the data and infrastructure that underpins it, is changing the way we live, work, and learn. We need to use our experience from the pandemic as a springboard to embed new and better ways of using technology in schools, and across education. This new investment moves us a giant step forward to helping ensure that every school across the country has the best technology.’
