ACEDA due to start work on the prestigious £110m Stephenson Building revamp

ACEDA due to start work on the prestigious £110m Stephenson Building revamp 3675

We are due to start work on the prestigious, £110m revamp of the Stephenson Building for Newcastle University in the upcoming weeks. Our works include the installation of a data and fibre network that will facilitate demanding connectivity requirements.

Named after railway engineering pioneer George Stephenson, the existing building will be partially demolished, extended and refurbished to provide facilities for engineering research and teaching. The new School of Engineering will be an exciting hub for research, learning and engagement.

With sustainability at the forefront of the design, the new facility will have an impressive timber structure on the fourth floor, reuse half of the current building floor space and reduce heat loss using high air tightness levels.

Works are progressing quickly and our Engineers will be starting onsite within the upcoming weeks to install in excess of 4,500 data outlets.

Paul Warnes, Commercial Director said, “we have worked with this University for a number of years and we are delighted to be involved with such a prestigious, flagship project that is an iconic part of the campus. We are pleased to be providing the core connectivity infrastructure that will facilitate collaborative learning for years to come.”
