ACEDA were commissioned by Jersey Gas to provide an audit of the existing electrical and Instrumentation field cabling infrastructure, following a review of the subsequent appraisal ACEDA were commissioned to carry out upgrades to accommodate the revised plant operational requirements whilst complying with the latest safety standards and codes of practice.

BACKGROUND

Jersey Gas is an energy provider based in the Channel Islands who import and distribute Liquefied Petroleum Gas (LPG) Gas for commercial and domestic use. LPG is an abundant natural resource found in worldwide oil fields and is produced by refining crude oil. After production, it is temporarily stored in refineries throughout Europe until being transported by specially constructed ships to bulk storage terminals throughout Europe including Jersey.

PROJECT INSIGHT

ACEDA were Initially engaged by Jersey Gas to attend site and complete an appraisal of the existing LV, control and instrumentation system, document our findings and provide As Fitted Drawings for the client to ascertain if any remedial works were required and to assist in the ongoing maintenance and support of the site.

From the initial appraisal ACEDA were then successful in their tender qualification to provide services for the supply, install, test and commission of the LV, control, instrumentation and CCTV Solution for Jersey Gas.

The project consisted of the supply and installation of a BS5308 Type 2 SWA Cabling infrastructure and associated accessories to support the LV, Control and instrumentation systems. The cabling was installed and terminated within Stainless Steel St316L 67 IP rated Junction Boxes utilising Eexd rated Glands to ensure compliance with the Hazardous area classification requirements.

The solution was adapted further by ACEDA utilising an IP CCTV system which was installed at strategic locations around the site to monitor the safety and process critical operation of the site.
